Despite the grim forecast, Murray-Bruce expressed optimism about Africa’s fate—particularly Nigeria’s—stating that the continent would likely remain untouched by the war’s devastation.

He attributed Nigeria’s potential immunity to its non-aggressive foreign policy, lack of nuclear ambition, and peaceful diplomatic stance, which he believes will shield the country from becoming a target.

“We’re in serious danger,” he said. “As long as global leadership remains in the hands of volatile figures, I see World War III coming—and it will be catastrophic.”

“The silver lining is that Africa, especially Nigeria, will be spared. While other nations engage in conflict, Nigeria will remain peaceful. We don’t seek nuclear weapons or territorial expansion. We’re at peace with our neighbours and wish no harm.”

Murray-Bruce also envisioned Nigeria as a future refuge for displaced populations from war-torn nations, though he stressed the need for firm immigration controls.

“When the war ends and the rest of the world is in ruins, we’ll be open to receiving Americans, Israelis, Iranians—anyone affected. But they must come through proper visa channels,” he said. “We’ll treat them well, not as immigrants, but as welcomed visitors.”

Reflecting on the global tensions that sparked the first two world wars, Murray-Bruce warned that history might repeat itself under today’s volatile conditions.

“There’s too much violence, too much easy access to weapons, and too many reckless leaders. That’s a dangerous recipe—and I believe we’re already heading down that road.”
