While the police authorities have yet to issue an official statement, sources at the Force Headquarters in Abuja confirmed the change to Premium Times.

The sources also revealed that the police hierarchy has established a new unit, the New Media Office, with Chief Superintendent Ali Giwa appointed to lead the department.

According to Naija News, this development comes shortly after Hundeyin publicly stated that the new Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, would not be subjected to emotional blackmail.

Hundeyin emphasized that IGP Disu would remain professional, refusing to take unnecessary action under pressure. He further stated that no officer is above the law, and anyone found culpable would be sanctioned.

“The IGP will not be goaded into taking needless actions. The case is already before a court of competent jurisdiction and is progressing well. Sentiments or emotional blackmail will not cow the Force. IGP Olatunji Disu, psc(+), NPM remains resolute in ensuring professionalism among his officers while equally asserting that any officer found wanting will be decisively sanctioned, as no officer is above the law,” Hundeyin wrote on his account.
