On Tuesday, August 6, LIB released a video showing damage to the bridge. The video, recorded and shared by a bystander, revealed that criminals had dismantled parts of the bridge to steal the iron rods used in its construction.
In an update this evening, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Wahab Tokunbo, confirmed that a suspect has been apprehended and handed over to the police.
The suspect, who identified himself as a native of Kwara State, admitted to planning to sell the stolen iron rods.
