The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the results of 379,000 candidates who participated in the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held between Friday and Monday will be released on Wednesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This development comes after the board decided to reconduct the exams due to massive outcry over widespread failure in the initial UTME sessions.

According to JAMB, the decision to reschedule stemmed from a mix of technical and human errors, particularly in Lagos and across the South-East, which negatively affected many candidates’ performance.

From the 1.9 million candidates who took part in the 2025 UTME, over 1.5 million scored below 200 out of 400—sparking intense debate and concern among education stakeholders nationwide.

In response, JAMB launched an internal investigation, identifying system failures and operational lapses. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, took full responsibility, expressing deep regret. In an emotional address, Oloyede even broke down in tears while apologizing to affected candidates and promising reforms.

Speaking with The Punch on Monday, JAMB’s spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin confirmed that the results of the rescheduled exams would be made public on Wednesday. “The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” he stated.

Prof. Oloyede previously revealed that a total of 379,997 candidates were affected by the UTME disruptions—206,610 in 65 centres across Lagos and 173,387 in 92 centres in the South-East.

He described the disruption as an act of “sabotage” and assured that affected candidates began receiving SMS notifications for the rescheduled exams from last Thursday.

Data from the initial UTME showed a worrying trend: out of 1,955,069 processed results, only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) scored 320 and above, while 7,658 (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319. In total, only 12,414 candidates (0.63%) scored 300 or more.
