Her announcement had sparked heightened security around the Assembly complex, with vehicles subjected to increased screening, reflecting the anticipation and sensitivity surrounding her return.
However, Akpoti-Uduaghan clarified that she would wait to receive the Certified True Copy of the court judgment before making any formal move to rejoin plenary proceedings.
Speaking during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT) on Tuesday, she explained that her decision was based on legal advice and a strong respect for institutional processes.
“I believe in the judiciary, and I’m not backing down,” she affirmed.
Defending her role since being excluded from Senate activities, she emphasized that her dedication to serving her constituents has remained intact.
“I’ve remained active on personal initiatives. I was working on the gold bill and planned to move on to lithium and red mineral legislation. These are projects I can’t just hand over to others,” she stated.
She further argued that her suspension had broader implications: “By keeping me out of the chambers, the Senate isn’t just silencing Kogi Central—it’s also denying Nigerian women and children representation. We are now only three female senators, down from eight.”
