President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday administered the oath of office to Aminu Yusuf, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), as well as two commissioners and five permanent secretaries.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The ceremony, held during the first segment of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, was attended by members of the cabinet.

Yusuf’s appointment follows statutory approvals, beginning with his confirmation by the Senate of Nigeria on October 22, 2025. The Senate endorsed the Niger State-born leader to head the NPC.

Also sworn in as NPC commissioners were Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State and Tonga Betara Bularafa from Yobe State.

The President additionally administered the oath of office to five newly appointed permanent secretaries: Abdulkarim Ibrahim, Dr. John Ezeamama, Dr. Abdul-Sule Garba, Dr. Isiaku Mohammed, and Dr. Ukaire Chigbowu.

Yusuf succeeds Nasir Isa Kwara, who was appointed NPC Chairman in 2020 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. His appointment had earlier been approved by the Council of State in October.

In a related development, President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem as the new Chairman of the Military Pensions Board. The appointment was announced on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed.

The statement noted that Abdulraheem’s leadership is expected to enhance the Board’s efforts to modernize and streamline pension administration for retired military personnel and their families.

“The Military Pensions Board wishes to formally announce the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem as the new Chairman. His assumption of office marks a significant step in the Board’s drive toward improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery for military retirees and their families,” the statement read.
