Former Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, commended President Bola Tinubu for his performance amidst the challenging circumstances inherited upon assuming office in May 2023. Buhari expressed his views on Sunday, March 10, during a meeting with the comptroller-general and the management team of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in Daura, Katsina state. Recognizing the complexities of governing Nigeria, Buhari urged citizens to endure the prevailing economic challenges and rally behind the policies and initiatives of the present administration.

In his remarks, Buhari acknowledged the difficulties associated with steering the country, emphasizing the demanding nature of the task at hand. He conveyed his gratitude to the NCS representatives for their visit and voiced his appreciation for Tinubu’s efforts, stating, “I thank you very much for coming. I very much appreciate it. I thought Tinubu has done very well. Nigeria is so complex. Really, there isn’t much anybody can do.”

Despite Buhari’s positive assessment, President Tinubu has faced criticism from segments of the Nigerian population. Notably, his government’s policies, such as the removal of petrol subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate, have generated controversy, contributing to escalating inflation and economic challenges in the country.
