These sentiments were expressed during a stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room in Abuja, focusing on the approaching elections.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, emphasized the need for security agencies to reassess their operational strategies, emphasizing the importance of impartiality among their personnel during the electoral process.

He underscored that commitment from both security officials and citizens is vital for improving the electoral system.

Alli revealed that the National Assembly had initiated oversight activities, engaging with INEC to assess preparedness for the off-cycle elections in the respective states.

Furthermore, Alli cautioned eligible voters against allowing themselves to be manipulated by desperate politicians for electoral malpractice, as such activities could disrupt the entire electoral process.

He highlighted the growing influence of citizens in electoral matters, stressing the significance of the people’s conduct.
