The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed strong disapproval of a viral testimony shared by a member of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, in which she claimed an “angel” provided her with answers during a promotional examination.

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows the woman recounting how, during a military promotional exam, an elderly man appeared and helped her answer questions she couldn’t solve.

According to her, the exam consisted of 50 questions, 40 of which were career-related, while 10 were about current affairs. One of the questions asked to “list 10 Francophone countries and their capitals,” which stumped the candidates. The woman said, “Nobody knew the answer. I lifted the question paper and declared, ‘I am a Chosen! I am a chosen!! I am a chosen!!!’ Then suddenly, an old man in white appeared beside me and told me to start writing, and I did.”

She added that after some invigilators, who suspected something unusual, removed her apron, the “angel” vanished. When they returned the apron, the figure reappeared and continued to assist her. She claimed to have completed the 10 questions correctly and that only two out of 102 candidates finished the exam successfully, herself and a Mountain of Fire member.

The church members reportedly erupted in praise following her testimony.

In an interview with Punch, Lagos CAN chairman Stephen Adegbite criticized the church for promoting such testimonies. He referred to the account as “fabrications” and stressed that claims like these should be verified before being shared publicly.

“She’s entitled to her opinion, but we must verify such claims. Looking at it logically, that is foolish talk, and nobody should accept that. Some testimonies are not meant for church audiences, and this is one of them,” Adegbite stated, adding that the CAN national body will meet on September 28 to discuss the matter.

He emphasized the need for caution, advising churches to thoroughly vet testimonies to avoid spreading unfounded stories.
