Chidinma Ekile Reveals She Ran Away From Nigeria Before Becoming A Gospel Singer
Popular Nigerian singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that she once left Nigeria with plans to settle abroad permanently before eventually returning and transitioning from secular music to gospel.
Speaking at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, the singer disclosed that she had travelled overseas and attempted to secure permanent residency because she did not intend to return to Nigeria. However, her plans did not work out as expected.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Chidinma explained that while she was abroad, the Chief Executive Officer of Eezee Conceptz was the only person from Nigeria who consistently reached out to her and encouraged her.
She said the continued communication and encouragement influenced her decision to return to Nigeria and pursue a gospel music career under the record label.
“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work,” she said.
The singer further disclosed that after returning to the country, she approached the label’s CEO and requested a gospel music contract because she wanted to dedicate more time to God.
“When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,” Chidinma stated.
She also clarified that her decision to embrace gospel music was not primarily driven by a desire to make religious songs but by her personal longing to develop a deeper relationship with God.
Chidinma’s revelation offers insight into the personal journey behind her transition from secular music to gospel, highlighting the role of faith, encouragement and her eventual partnership with Eezee Conceptz in shaping the next phase of her career.
