Represented by Brigadier-General Michael Agi, the Chief of Staff at Operation Safe Haven, Gen. Musa highlighted the role of misinformation in shaping negative perceptions of the military. He assured Nigerians of the Armed Forces’ neutrality and expressed openness to addressing concerns raised during the event.
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, acknowledged collaboration with the media for peaceful coexistence. A committee was announced to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons, with the retreat contributing to addressing security challenges in the Middle Belt region.
Keynote speaker Professor Sampson Terwase advocated for increased public awareness in the fight against insecurity. Forum President Jonathan Ipaa and other speakers urged an end to insecurity, emphasizing its impact on food security and the economy in the Middle Belt.
The Plateau Initiative for the Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN) decried attacks on farmlands, urging security measures to enable the return to farming. Chief Clement Ibo stressed the need for security, stating, “People now farm within communities while the vast farmlands are occupied by the terrorists, affecting us terribly in terms of food production.”
The speakers collectively emphasized the urgent need to address insecurity to restore stability and food production in the Middle Belt region.
