Port Harcourt is gearing up for what is being described as one of the largest humanitarian and evangelistic crusades ever hosted in the city. Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW), a humanitarian and evangelistic initiative founded by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, will hold the event at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium from November 24 to 29, 2025, under the theme: “Port Harcourt, This Is Selfless Love.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking ahead of the event, Pastor Ashimolowo explained that the vision for CCRW emerged from years of ministering in remote African communities, particularly in Ghana, where he conducted missions for eight consecutive years. After months of prayer, Port Harcourt was selected as the next location for the outreach following successful editions in Ikorodu (2023) and Ibadan (2024).

The event will feature leading gospel artists, including Laolu Gbenjo, Chioma Jesus, Mercy Chinwo, Lillian Nneji, Sensational Bamidele, and Testimony Jaga, among others. Pastor Ashimolowo described the Port Harcourt edition as the most expensive yet, costing nearly four times the first outreach and double the Ibadan budget.

A significant medical component will run for three weeks across major hospitals, including the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, and several primary healthcare centers. Over 1,130 surgical cases, including thyroid, fibroid, and cataract treatments, have already been screened, with an estimated 70,000 beneficiaries expected from the medical services. The Rivers State Government has been praised for its support, particularly in hospital deployment and staffing.

The outreach will also distribute massive quantities of relief materials, including 150,000 bags each of rice and beans, 150,000 packs of garri, 100,000 packs of noodles, 20,000 packs of salt, sugar, and oil, 20,000 bags of soap, 170,000 clothing items—including 10,000 Ankara wrappers—and additional essentials such as 25,000 buckets and 1,000 mattresses for the elderly. Distribution will be organized via coupons collected on November 24, with the stadium divided into sections by gender and age to ensure order.

Over 9,000 volunteers have been mobilized, with 150 buses arranged to transport visitors from rural communities such as Ogoniland, Ahoada, Igwuruta, and Oginigba. Campgrounds have also been secured for attendees traveling from remote areas.

While the humanitarian aspect is extensive, Pastor Ashimolowo emphasized that evangelism remains at the heart of CCRW. The crusade aims to see 30,000 people commit their lives to Christ, featuring nightly sessions of prayers, healing, and miracles. Security has been reinforced, with 300 police officers and soldiers deployed for the six-day program.

In addition, a ministers’ conference will run concurrently, featuring speakers from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and the United States, including Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Dr. Festus Adeyeye, Jonathan Shuttlesworth, and Rev. Steve Mensah.
