Clash Between PDP Secretary And APC Escalates Regarding Ekiti Governor’s Performance

The performance of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti State has sparked a debate between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), with each party presenting contrasting views.

Mrs. Funmi Ogun, the PDP State Secretary and former Commissioner for Works in Ekiti State, who is aspiring for the governorship seat in 2026 under the PDP, criticized the Oyebanji-led APC government, alleging a lack of tangible progress despite the resources available to the state. She particularly questioned the prioritization of projects such as the ongoing flyover bridge, considering the economic challenges faced by the populace.

In a statement released by her Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Atenibiaje, Ogun lamented the apparent disconnect between the substantial resources received by the state government and the persisting issues such as flooding, poor infrastructure, high unemployment, and security threats.

Contrarily, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, countered Ogun’s assertions, emphasizing the positive impact of Governor Oyebanji’s governance on Ekiti residents. Dipe highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, welfare packages, timely payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities as evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people.

Dipe argued that the success of Oyebanji’s administration should be gauged by the satisfaction of the populace benefiting from his people-centric initiatives, rather than the criticisms from political opponents like Ogun and the PDP.

The exchange between the two parties underscores the contrasting narratives surrounding governance in Ekiti State, with the PDP focusing on perceived shortcomings while the APC emphasizes its achievements and impact on the populace.
