The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd.), and ex-General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Aminu Baba-Kusa, along with two companies—Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited—before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This re-arraignment comes after the FCT Chief Judge, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf, was elevated, leading to the case being reassigned to Justice Charles Agbaza, necessitating a fresh trial.

Dasuki, who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan, was initially charged on December 14, 2015, before Justice Baba-Yusuf on a 19-count indictment of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving ₦13.5 billion.

The EFCC later modified the charges, dropping one defendant, Shuaibu Salisu, and re-arraigned the remaining parties on May 11, 2018, on an expanded 32-count charge linked to the alleged diversion of ₦33.2 billion meant for arms procurement to combat Boko Haram insurgents.

Despite years of legal proceedings, the case stalled, with only one prosecution witness testifying before it was indefinitely adjourned.

Dasuki’s prolonged detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), despite multiple court rulings granting him bail, further delayed the trial.

Additionally, the EFCC has a separate case against Dasuki, former Minister of State for Finance Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, and ex-Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, among others, over an alleged ₦19.4 billion fraud. That case remains ongoing before Justice Yusuf Halilu.

Following Justice Baba-Yusuf’s elevation, the case has now been reassigned, with the EFCC expected to push for an expedited trial.
