Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Giwa claimed that Charity Omole, an aide to Governor Usman Ododo, has been at the forefront of the recall campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan.
He asserted that the recall effort is politically driven by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in Kogi State to target the senator, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“There is no way the recall process can succeed unless it is manipulated,” Giwa stated, emphasizing that the process involves about 15 stages, making it extremely difficult to execute legitimately.
He dismissed the justification for the recall, arguing that it was not based on performance but rather on Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Giwa further accused the state government of using Omole to orchestrate the recall, stating, “The woman leading this recall effort is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State on Women and Youths. This is clearly a government-sponsored initiative, not one driven by the constituents.”
According to him, “The recall process should be initiated by the people, but in this case, the evidence is clear—the governor is the one engineering the process.”
