Mr. Alake was speaking to journalists on Monday after the inauguration ceremony of the 45 newly appointed ministers at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Contrary to popular belief, Alake revealed that it was his personal request to be given the Solid Minerals portfolio. He elaborated, “Given the sensitive nature of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in our current phase of economic renewal, I specifically made a request to the president to be placed in this position, and I’m grateful he granted it.”

Emphasizing his commitment, Alake mentioned, “This ministry holds significant importance to this administration. The president desired someone in whom he had complete trust and confidence to deliver effective results.”

Before the allocation of portfolios, there was substantial speculation that Mr. Alake was being considered for a ministerial role in the information and communication-related ministry.
