The factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has debunked claims of his resignation, dismissing a letter in circulation as fake, fraudulent, and the handiwork of desperate political actors.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Sunday, Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Office of the National Chairman, clarified that the document dated May 18, 2025, neither bore Bala’s signature nor carried the official stamp of the ADC.
“The document was not authored or signed by Nafiu Bala and does not contain the official seal of the ADC,” Okechukwu stated.
The statement reaffirmed that Bala remains the constitutionally recognised leader of the party and has not vacated his position.
“The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress, under its legitimate and constitutionally recognised Acting National Chairman, Nafiu Bala, categorically denies the existence of any authentic resignation letter,” Okechukwu declared.
He stressed that Bala had never resigned as Deputy National Chairman, nor relinquished his leadership through any legitimate process.
Forgery and Desperation
According to the ADC, the purported resignation letter lacked all official identifiers of credibility.
“The fraudulent document carried no party letterhead, emblem, or insignia. It is simply a desperate attempt to sow confusion and destabilise the party,” the statement added.
Reiterating the party’s constitutional provisions, Okechukwu noted that anyone aspiring to occupy a leadership position must be a registered member for at least one year, fulfil financial obligations, and undergo due process before assuming office.
He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard the fake letter and continue to recognise Bala’s leadership.
The party also called on members nationwide to remain vigilant.
“We urge our members across the country to be on guard against misinformation campaigns designed to destabilise our movement,” the statement concluded.
