DSS Drops Bombshell: Simon Ekpa’s Extradition Imminent As Kanu’s Trial Stalls Again
A witness for the prosecution told the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday that Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed follower of Nnamdi Kanu, is expected to be extradited from Finland to Nigeria soon to face charges related to the Biafra agitation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Identified only as PW-AAA for security reasons, the witness—a Department of State Services (DSS) operative who arrested Nnamdi Kanu at a Lagos hotel in 2015—made the revelation during cross-examination by Kanu’s lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).
PW-AAA testified that no weapons were recovered from Kanu or the woman with him at the time of arrest. However, he noted that the range and nature of materials seized—such as electronic devices and IPOB-related documents—could imply intentions beyond normal use.
“While the items may not be inherently dangerous, the intent behind them could raise concern,” he said.
He also clarified that his involvement was limited to arresting Kanu and obtaining his statement, not analyzing the materials recovered.
Earlier in the proceedings, the Federal Government presented a list of items confiscated from Kanu at the time of his arrest, which the court admitted as evidence. These included:
-
Electronic gadgets: a black laptop, Apple iPads and MacBooks, transmitters, a mini drone speaker, several internet modems, a camcorder, flash drives, and adaptors.
-
Mobile devices and accessories: phones (Samsung, Motorola, Nokia), microphones, headphones, a hand recorder, and extension cords.
-
Documents and IDs: Nigerian and British passports in the name “Okwu Kanu Nwannekaibeya Nnamdi Ngozichukwu,” IPOB membership cards, and IPOB-labeled papers.
-
Personal items: perfumes, shoes, belts, wristwatches (various brands), singlets, wallets, and medicines.
