During the decoration ceremony, the Comptroller of Correctional Service for the Edo Command, Philomena Emehimola, delivered a motivating address to the officers. Emehimola emphasized that the promotions should be perceived as a heightened call to duty, urging the officers to approach their elevated positions with a sense of increased responsibility. She stressed that with promotion comes the expectation of increased dedication and hard work.

Addressing the promoted officers, Emehimola remarked, “Those of you who have been promoted, you must be ready to do more work, for the rewards for promotion entail more responsibilities. You have been called to duty, and you have to prove to the Nigerian Correctional Service that you are up to the task and that your promotion was not a mistake.”

She further advised the officers to be diligent in their roles, underlining the notion that promotion is earned through sustained effort and commitment. Emehimola extended encouragement to those who were not promoted, expressing optimism that they would have their share in future promotions.

Commending the Comptroller General of NCoS, Halliru Nababa, Emehimola acknowledged his efforts in ensuring that officers from the Edo Command were included in the recent promotions. She expressed confidence that the newly promoted officers would live up to the expectations placed upon them.

One of the newly promoted officers, Deputy Superintendent Ayemien Otasowie, shared her joy about the elevation and acknowledged the significance of the new rank. Otasowie expressed gratitude, attributing the promotion to divine favor. She stated, “I am so happy for the promotion as people usually say and as I know, promotion comes from God, and He has done it again. Among the multitude of persons, God picked me out of them. So, I am very happy.”

Overall, the decoration ceremony not only marked the recognition of individual achievements but also served as a reminder of the heightened responsibilities accompanying the elevated ranks within the Nigeria Correctional Service.
