Commissioner Adeboye expressed deep concern about the alarming rate of cult-related killings in the state. He emphasized the commitment of the police force to prosecute anyone involved in cultism, regardless of their societal status. Adeboye declared that the police would not tolerate criminal activities that jeopardize the peace and security of the state, highlighting the full support of the state government in their efforts to eradicate criminal elements.

During the operation, the police recovered various items from the suspects, including a locally made single-barrel pump-action gun, two locally made cut-to-size pistols, an AK-47 rifle, six cartridges, a vehicle, a police walkie-talkie, an axe, a face mask, a packet of cigarettes, and Indian hemp.

“The Edo State Police Command has apprehended 18 suspects involved in crimes such as cultism and kidnapping. Our resolve is to curb criminal activities in the state. Cultists will find Edo a no-go area, and we urge parents to counsel their children against involvement in cultism as strict law enforcement measures will be applied,” Commissioner Adeboye affirmed.

Additionally, he urged police officers to embrace the principles of democratic policing, emphasizing a sense of responsibility, fear of God, and compassion towards citizens while carrying out their duties.
