However, during the court process, Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court in Abuja noticed discrepancies and queried the lawyer, who admitted to erroneously filing the charges in the name of EFCC.

The counsel for the EFCC, Helen Okonofun, appeared before Justice Omotoso and clarified that Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police, was not authorized to file any criminal charges against Oduah or prosecute her in any criminal matter.

Okonofun disclosed that the EFCC had investigated Mohammed, as ordered by the judge, and the findings would be filed at the court registry and made available to the court accordingly.

According to Okonofun, Mohammed had been initially associated with the EFCC but was subsequently redeployed to the police headquarters on November 4, 2022, and had not been involved with the EFCC since then.

Following these developments, Justice Omotoso fixed October 4, 2023, for the EFCC to officially present the report of their investigations to the court.
