A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has cautioned politicians against being driven by the personal ambitions of others.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu made the statement while reacting to comments by the interim National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, who urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to stop speaking on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the electronic transmission of election results.

Taking to his account, Momodu warned political leaders not to allow anyone’s personal ambition to lead them astray, stressing the need to uphold transparency and democratic principles.

David Mark had called on the Senate to pass the relevant legislation and allow INEC the discretion to determine how election results are electronically transmitted.

Commending Mark’s intervention, Momodu wrote:
“Thank you, sir, our ADC Chairman, Brigadier General David Mark (rtd.), for your brilliant intervention. My personal advice to our politicians is this: do not allow anyone’s personal ambition to lead you to hellfire. Promote transparent democratic tenets and ideals.”

Meanwhile, Momodu expressed sadness over what he described as unfair remarks often made about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He made this known during an interview on Politics HQ, a programme aired on News Central, while clarifying Atiku’s relationship with former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.

The veteran journalist said he would support any of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or Aminu Tambuwal if any emerges as the ADC’s presidential candidate in the 2027 election.

Momodu also reminded the public that Atiku was instrumental in giving Peter Obi his first national exposure when they ran together on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the 2019 presidential election.

“I’m very close to every one of them,” he said. “Peter Obi has been to my house in Lagos, London, and Accra, and I have visited his home in Lagos as well. We have mutual respect for each other, but my loyalty is to the party.

“If the ADC chooses Peter Obi today, I will support him with everything I have. If it’s Tambuwal or Amaechi, I will support them. And if it’s Atiku, it’s even sweeter because I have already worked with him.

“It pains me when people speak badly about Atiku. People should not forget that Atiku and Obi worked together in 2019. Atiku was the one who first gave Obi a national platform as his running mate. They performed well despite not winning.

“They are not enemies; they interact regularly, and everyone knows that Atiku is a true gentleman and a committed democrat who holds no grudges.”
