Eric Gugua Drops Controversial Claim, Says Nigerians Are Under A Generational Curse

Internet personality Eric Gugua has expressed frustration over the difficulties Nigerians often encounter when travelling abroad, describing the experience of being born in Nigeria as being under a “generational curse.”

Gugua made the remark while speaking about his inability to attend a blockchain conference scheduled to take place in London the following week.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the internet personality contrasted the travel experience of Nigerians with that of citizens from some other countries, particularly regarding the time and documentation involved in obtaining a visa.

Gugua complained that while some people may be able to make plans to travel to London at short notice, Nigerians seeking to attend international events are often required to begin the visa process months ahead of time and submit extensive documentation.

Expressing his frustration, he said being born in Nigeria places people at a disadvantage when it comes to international travel, describing the situation as a “generational curse.”

“There’s a blockchain conference in London next week, but I know I can’t attend. I’d need to apply for a visa months in advance and submit countless documents,” Gugua said.

He further lamented that applicants may be required to submit their passports and several supporting documents, including birth certificates, as part of the visa application process.

Gugua’s comments have sparked discussion over the challenges Nigerians face when seeking visas to travel to countries such as the United Kingdom, particularly for conferences, business engagements and other international events.
