In a statement shared with Punch in Umuahia, Madugba refuted the accusations as a smear campaign orchestrated by political adversaries to tarnish his reputation.

“I am neither a sponsor nor a sympathizer of IPOB. I do not know any member of the group, nor have I ever interacted with any known IPOB member,” Madugba asserted, firmly denying any association with the group.

Highlighting his commitment to a unified Nigeria, Madugba recounted his extensive political career and public service. “I have served as the acting state chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, a candidate under the Accord Party for the House of Representatives, and a candidate for the same position under the New Nigeria Peoples Party for Isialangwa North/South Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections. My contributions to community building and fostering unity have always been focused on the development of Abia State and Nigeria as a whole. I believe strongly in One Nigeria.”

To counter the allegations, Madugba disclosed his financial records, inviting public scrutiny. “For the avoidance of doubt, I have published all my account details for anyone to verify if any of my accounts, personal or business, have received funds capable of sponsoring a separatist group like IPOB,” he stated, listing account details from UBA, First Bank, Heritage Bank, and Ecobank.

He also announced that his legal team has been instructed to address the alleged defamation, urging the public to disregard the claims. “This statement serves as my official response to these baseless allegations, which are nothing more than a calculated attempt to damage my reputation,” Madugba declared.

Concluding his remarks, he reaffirmed his dedication to service and highlighted his achievements in business and politics. “I have consistently paid my dues, whether as the CEO and Chairman of Gemka Oils and Gas Limited or as a director in other successful companies across the country,” he said.
