FG Rolls Out 26 Trade Areas For Technical Schools — Full List Released
The Federal Ministry of Education has unveiled a full list of 26 approved trade areas under its revised technical education curriculum — a reform aimed at aligning classroom training with modern industry needs.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben Folasade, it was announced that all Federal Science and Technical Colleges will be converted into Federal Technical Colleges starting from the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, each college will be mandated to offer a minimum of six and a maximum of ten trade courses.
The updated curriculum also introduces a new subject, Citizenship and Heritage Studies, which will be taught alongside core science and language courses.
“This reform is designed to reduce curriculum overload, strengthen trade competencies, align with global standards, and prepare young Nigerians for the jobs of the future,” the statement read.

Under the new plan, students will take 9–10 subjects, comprising:

The ministry stressed that the overhaul directly addresses skills gaps in construction, agriculture, energy, automotive technology, creative industries, and digital services. By embedding more hands-on training, the government aims to ensure graduates leave with market-ready skills to meet both local and global employment demands.
