Fashola strongly refuted the unsubstantiated and defamatory accusation that he played a role in crafting the PEPT Judges’ decisions.
Expressing disappointment at the rapid dissemination of false information on various social media platforms, he called upon law enforcement agencies to take appropriate measures against those responsible for propagating false news.
Through a statement issued by his media adviser, Hakeem Bello, Fashola clarified that he was not present in Abuja for an extended period of time, rendering the claims entirely baseless.
He condemned the individuals behind these damaging allegations, characterizing them as agents seeking to disrupt stability.
“Fashola has initiated the process of formally lodging complaints against the offensive tweets and online reports with the management of the microblogging site, X (formerly Twitter), and the National Communications Commission (NCC).
He implored the relevant law enforcement agencies to treat this matter with utmost seriousness, as it directly affects the autonomy of the judiciary.
“The former Minister believes that these allegations may be part of a broader campaign to undermine the judiciary by those who aim to manipulate the institution for their own benefit.
He underscores the importance of identifying the culprits and their backers, ensuring they face appropriate legal consequences,” Bello stated.
Fashola, the former two-term Governor of Lagos State, urged the public to disregard the false claims and encouraged them to report individuals involved in spreading such dangerous fabrications to the pertinent security agencies.
