After the closed-door meeting, Ebikabowei, also known as Gen. Boyloaf, spoke to the press and revealed that the primary focus of the discussions was finding ways to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the people in the region.
Boyloaf attributed the economic challenges to the actions of politicians, accusing them of sabotaging the economy despite the abundant mineral resources in the nation. He emphasized that with the available resources, the country should not be experiencing such hardships.
The former militant further urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to concentrate on boosting the nation’s Gross Domestic Production (GDP) across all its exports.
He stated, “We are gathered here today because of the economic situation of the country and the way forward. The issue of our economy is important to us. There’s need for the Federal Government to work on how to increase our Gross Domestic Production (GDP). We have put heads together to ensure that things go on smoothly.”
Expressing concern about the Niger Delta region, Boyloaf stressed the importance of fixing the economy quickly, particularly with the rise in oil output. He called for the equitable distribution of resources to states so that they can take responsibility for the well-being of their respective regions.
In conclusion, Boyloaf highlighted the necessity of increasing production to ensure that the nation’s exports surpass imports, emphasizing the importance of a well-functioning economy for the survival of the country.
