The Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Adeoye Irelewuyi, has issued a strong warning to drivers regarding the use of mobile phones while operating vehicles. Irelewuyi highlighted the potential connection between road accidents and the use of mobile phones behind the wheel. He urged motorists to refrain from this practice and stressed the importance of stopping and parking on the side of the road to make or answer calls. Additionally, he emphasized that any device capable of distracting drivers should not be used while driving.

The Corps Commander noted a significant decrease in the rate of motor accidents during the last festive season compared to previous years. He attributed this positive trend to the dedicated efforts of the Command in ensuring that motorists adhere to traffic regulations.

Irelewuyi revealed that the Command has been actively conducting public enlightenment programs on radio and regularly visiting parks to ensure that operators comply with traffic rules and regulations. The goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving and to promote responsible and safe driving habits among motorists.
