Fuel Shortages Prompt Closure Of Lagos And Ogun Gas Stations....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Several fuel stations in parts of Lagos experienced closures on Monday due to supply disruptions, causing apprehension among residents. Upon investigation by The PUNCH in areas such as Ikotun, Akonwonjo Egbeda, and Igando, it was evident that numerous fuel outlets had ceased operations. Mobil filling stations along the Ikotun-Idimu road and the Odo-Eran axis of the Isheri-Igando road were exceptions, yet they faced extensive queues. Along the Egbeda-Akowonjo axis, only one outlet belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited remained operational at the time of reporting.
Similarly, several fuel stations along the Mowe-Ibafo axis in Ogun State were also inactive during this period.
Reacting to this situation, Mr. Hammed Fashola, the National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, attributed the disruptions to supply chain issues exacerbated by the recent public holiday. Fashola anticipated relief from the supply disruptions by Wednesday following the conclusion of the Easter holiday.
This occurrence echoes the long queues witnessed at filling stations across Lagos in February during a strike by members of the National Association of Road Transport Owners. The public’s concerns about a potential scarcity of premium motor spirit fueled these queues.
