The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated that candidates sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will not be assigned exam centres outside the state where they registered.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This assurance was given by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, during a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Dr. Benjamin explained that while some candidates took the mock UTME outside their registration or residential states, this only occurred due to limited availability of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres during the mock exercise.

He emphasized that all accredited centres would be fully functional for the main UTME, eliminating the need to post candidates outside their states.

“For instance, if all mock exam centres in Abuja are fully booked and centres in Nasarawa State still have capacity, candidates may be directed there,” Benjamin clarified.

He added that such scenarios are unlikely during the main UTME, as the number of available centres will significantly increase, ensuring that all candidates are accommodated within their registered state.

Benjamin also pointed out that early registration increases the chances of being posted to a nearby centre. If local centres become fully booked, candidates may be assigned to centres further away—but still within the same state.

In a prior statement on Sunday, he acknowledged the technical glitches and delays some candidates faced during the mock examination, apologizing for the inconvenience.

He explained that the mock exam is a preparatory test for both the candidates and JAMB, used to trial new innovations and ensure smoother operations during the main UTME.

“The mock exam helps us identify and resolve potential issues while giving candidates hands-on experience with the CBT environment,” he said.

According to him, this practice has consistently proven effective in preparing students and refining exam procedures.

JAMB encouraged all candidates to remain patient and diligent, reaffirming its commitment to delivering an improved and candidate-friendly examination process.

The 2025 UTME is set to begin on April 25.
