During a briefing with the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar emphasized the importance of maintaining positive international relations while stressing Nigeria’s right to sovereignty.

Recent protests in major cities, including Lagos, Benin, and Kano, which escalated into violence, led to the arrest of six Spaniards in Kano. The minister called for continued international support for Nigeria’s efforts to address current challenges and improve the future for its citizens.

Tuggar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to various reform programs aimed at solving the nation’s issues and stated that Nigeria will not tolerate any form of foreign interference. He warned that the government would take necessary action against any foreign entities involved in supporting the protests or meddling in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

“Nigeria values its existing international relationships and is committed to preserving them. However, we urge for understanding and collaboration from the international community to assist Nigeria in overcoming its economic difficulties and enhancing the lives of its people,” Tuggar concluded.
