In their statement, the ministers compared the situation to the efforts of South-Western leaders in securing the release of Sunday Igboho, emphasizing the united front shown by Yoruba monarchs, politicians, and bishops. They urged South-East governors to show similar commitment and not let fear of losing relevance deter them from acting.
The ministers reminded the governors that part of their oath of office includes protecting figures like Kanu and appealed for a concerted effort to secure his release. They urged a united stand to ensure that Igbo interests are adequately represented in discussions with the President.
