I Prayed For His Victory” — Davido’s Dad Reveals How He Backed Adeleke In Osun Election

Businessman Deji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido, has revealed that he remained confident his younger brother, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, would emerge victorious in the recently concluded governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the election on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Speaking in a video shared on X by #OluwasayoElijiah, Deji disclosed that he had privately prayed and fasted for his brother throughout the election period and never doubted his eventual victory.

According to him, he deliberately kept his prayers private and did not discuss them with anyone.

“I don’t discuss with anybody. I do it in the corner of my room. I do this every day. So, I was not worried. I had no doubt in my mind that Ademola will win. Ademola will overcome,” he said.

Deji explained that he regularly sought God’s protection and intervention for his brother, adding that whenever he fasted, he did so three times a day without informing others.

“I fortify myself with the power of the Almighty God every day. And the day that I fast, I’ll do it three times a day. And nobody knew. I don’t discuss with anybody,” he added.

Reacting to the opposition and the political forces allegedly working against his brother, Deji maintained that no amount of money, influence or political power could overcome God’s will.

“Let them come with all the battalions, withdraw the Army, bring all the money from the Central Bank. Nobody is above God Almighty,” he said.

He also referred to the influence of those he believed were relying on their connections to the Presidency, insisting that such political power could not prevent his brother from winning.

“He comes with his wickedness. He comes with the power that he thinks he has because he’s connected to the Presidency. But Ademola comes against them in the power of the Almighty God,” Deji stated.

Recalling his prayers for the governor, he said he repeatedly asked God to protect Ademola and grant him victory because of his devotion and service.

“He dances and praises your name. So, Lord Almighty, God, the owner of the universe, show up for him,” he prayed.
