Chief Priest, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, lost his bid after reportedly securing only 14 votes in the primary election.

The nightlife promoter has since faced online criticism following his inability to clinch the party’s ticket despite publicly supporting President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting in a video circulating online, Chief Priest said his biggest regret was placing trust in certain community elders during the process.

He said, “I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position. My only regret was trusting the elders in the community.

“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary.”

Meanwhile, Chief Priest had earlier sparked debate online after commenting on the relationship between social media popularity and electoral success.

He argued that online support does not necessarily translate into votes at the ballot box.

According to him, politicians who are widely praised on social media often struggle at elections, while those heavily criticised online sometimes still emerge victorious.

He shared this view on his Instagram story, using politician Desmond Elliot as an example, noting that despite past online backlash, Elliot still won his election.
