Dismissing the claims as false, IBEDC clarified that its total workforce is approximately 2,500 and condemned the misinformation as a deliberate attempt to damage its reputation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, Angela Olanrewaju, the company affirmed its commitment to resolving the ongoing third-party outsourcing (PIPILL) issue with the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Olanrewaju commended the Federal Ministry of Labour for its role in mediating discussions between stakeholders and emphasized IBEDC’s commitment to service excellence and operational improvements.
She further stated, “IBEDC recognizes the professionalism demonstrated during the mediation process, which is still ongoing. However, given the situation, we intend to take legal action to address the defamation.”
Urging patience from the Oyo NLC, Olanrewaju cautioned against any disruptive actions that could affect IBEDC’s ability to provide stable power to businesses and residents in Oyo State and neighboring areas.
Despite the controversy, IBEDC reaffirmed its dedication to protecting its reputation while ensuring reliable electricity services for its customers.
