IGP Visits Kwara, Gives New Directive Following Citizen’s Death In Police Custody

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has instructed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the probe into the death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri, who passed away while in police custody in Kwara State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

On Sunday, the IGP visited the grieving family of the 35-year-old, who died in detention on the morning of December 20, 2024, in the Balogun Fulani community of Ilorin. He expressed his condolences, calling Abdulqaudri’s death a tragic incident.

Egbetokun, during his visit, directed the FCID to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure swift justice. A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized the IGP’s commitment to addressing unprofessional conduct within the force.

The statement read: “IGP Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the FCID to immediately take over the investigation into the tragic death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri while in police custody. During his visit to Kwara State on Sunday, 22nd December 2024, the IGP met with the deceased’s family and expressed deep sympathy. He assured them that the investigation would be comprehensive and transparent.
