INEC Declares Bye-Election Results As APC Sweeps Four Seats, APM Claims One

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the results of five bye-elections conducted across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states on Saturday, September 19, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning four seats while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) secured one.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the elections covered one federal constituency and four state constituencies across the affected states.

In Gombe State, APC candidate Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a emerged victorious in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election after polling 41,121 votes. The Labour Party candidate scored 3,553 votes, while the APM secured 872 votes.

In Kano State, APC candidate Husseini Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency bye-election with 22,890 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) polled 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded 108 votes.

In Delta State, APC candidate Okolosi Ator was declared winner of the Udu State Constituency bye-election with 8,724 votes, defeating the PDP, which secured 214 votes.

Bauchi State recorded two separate victories for the APC and APM. APC candidate Yakubu Ali won the Disina State Constituency bye-election with 5,846 votes, while the APM candidate scored 5,225 votes and the PRP received 3,701 votes.

The APM, however, secured its only victory of the five bye-elections in the Sakwa State Constituency of Zaki Local Government Area, Bauchi State. Hon. Adamu Yakubu was declared winner after polling 8,515 votes, defeating the APC candidate who received 3,771 votes. The PDP scored 2,076 votes, while the PRP polled 727.

The results announced by INEC therefore gave the APC four victories across the five constituencies, while the APM claimed the remaining seat in Bauchi State.
