IPOB Explodes: Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Is Pure Political Witch-Hunt – Ribadu’s Remarks Exposed

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have condemned Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, for alleging that the group was behind recent attacks on police stations and prisons.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released Saturday by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Powerful, the group described Ribadu’s comment as not only prejudicial—given the ongoing trial of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu—but also as proof that the trial is a politically motivated witch-hunt.

IPOB accused Ribadu of attempting to influence judicial proceedings by intimidating Justice James Omotosho, who is overseeing Kanu’s case. The group argued that the NSA’s remarks reflect a government that disregards the rule of law and views due process as an obstacle to its ethnic agenda.

Referring to testimony from May 22, where the government’s own witness admitted the DSS reports directly to the NSA, IPOB said Ribadu’s public statements further confirm the trial is orchestrated and unjust.

“This is not justice—it’s tyranny dressed in legal robes,” IPOB stated. “Even under Abacha’s regime, such open interference in judicial affairs was rare. Ribadu’s actions undermine Nigeria’s democratic integrity.”

The group also criticized the UK government for its silence, accusing it of enabling the Nigerian authorities to repeatedly violate the rights of a British citizen. IPOB urged international human rights bodies, legal experts, and democratic nations to speak out against Ribadu’s “recklessness” and demand a fair trial for Kanu.

“This trial is a test of global commitment to justice and the rule of law,” the statement concluded. “Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done.”
