Iyawe Joins Gov. Okpebholo To Welcome Oba Of Benin, Says Royal Museum Will Power Edo’s Creative Economy

Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE, Member representing Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, joined the Edo State Governor, H.E. Senator Monday Okpebholo, in receiving His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, during a courtesy visit to the State House.

The high-profile engagement drew dignitaries from across the state as the Benin Monarch reaffirmed the Palace’s enduring support for peace, cultural preservation, and sustainable development in Edo.
Speaking after the event, Hon Iyawe described the visit as “a powerful reminder of the deep bond between the Benin Kingdom and the Edo State Government,” noting that the synergy between both institutions remains critical to unity, good governance, and the protection of Benin’s centuries-old heritage.
He further highlighted the Benin Royal Museum as a transformational project with far-reaching benefits for the state’s creative and tourism sectors.
According to him, “The museum is more than a cultural landmark. It is a bridge between our rich heritage and the booming creative economy we are nurturing. Its completion will attract global tourism, create jobs, and position Edo as a premier destination for art, history, and innovation.”
Hon. Iyawe reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that advance Edo’s cultural pride and economic growth, while pledging continued collaboration with both the Palace and the State Government.
He ended with a tribute to the revered Monarch: “Oba ghator kpere! Ise.”
