The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has addressed the controversy surrounding the exclusion of some Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization……….CONTINUE READING
JAMB firmly denied recent allegations from HND graduates who claimed that their exclusion from the NYSC process was due to JAMB’s involvement. These graduates argued that their part-time National Diploma (ND) studies, as opposed to full-time HND, led to their exclusion.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 2, in Abuja, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin clarified that JAMB is not involved in the admissions process for HND programs. He referenced Section 5(2) of the JAMB Act, which outlines the Board’s responsibilities, emphasizing that JAMB is only responsible for undergraduate admissions and not for postgraduate or other specialized courses.
Dr. Benjamin explained that JAMB’s role is limited to overseeing admissions for National Diploma (ND) and Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) courses. The Board had initially approved admissions for ND programs but had no involvement in the subsequent HND admissions.
JAMB’s statement condemned the unfounded accusations and warned that some of the claims might border on criminal behavior, which the Board plans to address appropriately. The public was advised to disregard these allegations, as JAMB’s mandate does not extend to such matters.
