In an official statement posted on his social media handle on Sunday, Atiku emphasized the urgent necessity for a revamped security infrastructure to quell the unchecked activities of kidnappers and bandits in the country. He called upon security agencies to intensify their efforts in rescuing the remaining hostages.

Expressing his grief over the brutal murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who had been held captive with her siblings for almost two weeks, Atiku highlighted the distressing reality that criminals are operating without hindrance within the nation. He advocated for a reevaluation and strengthening of the security architecture to effectively counter criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property.

Atiku urged security agencies to escalate their actions in the pursuit of rescuing the remaining hostages still in the custody of the kidnappers. The former vice president’s statement comes in the wake of the recent kidnapping of Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children, with Nabeeha being among the victims.

Nabeeha, a 400-level biological science student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was laid to rest on Saturday following Islamic rites. The other abducted individuals include Najeebah (500 level, Quantity Surveying) and Nadheerah (300 level, Zoology). The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N60 million, which subsequently increased to N100 million after Nabeeha’s tragic murder. The incident has sparked public outrage on social media, with Nigerians demanding justice for Nabeeha and the release of her remaining siblings.
