JUST IN: Benue Crisis NEMA Distributes Aid To Those Affected By Conflict Between Farmers And Herders

Mr. Eugene Louis Nyelong, NEMA’s North Central Zonal Coordinator, oversaw the distribution, emphasizing that the items were approved following a collaborative assessment with the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA). He praised the concerted efforts of Governor Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, in ensuring the timely release of relief materials to aid the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Nyelong highlighted that their collective efforts significantly eased the challenges faced by those in the camps and mitigated the adverse effects of floods on the victims. On behalf of the state government, Mr. James Iorpuu, Executive Secretary of BSEMA, received the relief items and expressed gratitude to the federal government for its support. He acknowledged that the distributed relief materials would greatly alleviate the suffering of the IDPs and flood victims.

Represented by Mr. Donald Komgbenda, Head of Administration and Supply, Mr. Iorpuu urged displaced individuals to continue supporting Governor Alia’s administration. The collaborative efforts between NEMA, the state government, and other key stakeholders reflect a commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by those affected by the ongoing crisis and natural disasters in Benue State.
