The Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, disclosed this development following Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s ceremonial assent to both laws on Friday.

In recognizing the governor’s dedication to human rights, Justice Danladi emphasized the significance of not only formulating robust laws but also ensuring their effective execution through dedicated enforcement mechanisms.

Emphasizing the Quran’s explicit provisions for safeguarding women and children, Justice Danladi expressed dismay at the frequent neglect of fundamental rights. He characterized the newly established courts as a “crucial stride in upholding human rights” and conveyed confidence in their capacity to handle Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and child abuse with sensitivity and promptness.

Underlining the need for prompt action, the Chief Judge referred to recent distressing incidents, including a prominent assault on a lawyer’s spouse. To address such situations, he introduced a dedicated hotline for reporting violence throughout the state.

In line with Quranic teachings, Justice Danladi underscored the sanctity of all life and the collective responsibility to protect it. Acknowledging Governor Radda’s proactive stance, he praised the establishment of a steering committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the laws.

Justice Danladi called upon all stakeholders, including religious leaders, community members, and law enforcement agencies, to actively engage in enforcing these vital safeguards.
