The PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized the APC-led government, alleging that its policies, spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu, had pushed many Nigerians into poverty, depriving them of a joyous Christmas experience.

Encouraging Nigerians to maintain hope and renew their trust in divine intervention, the PDP emphasized the economic challenges faced by millions, urging the National Assembly to prioritize citizens’ welfare in budget allocations.

In response, the APC dismissed the PDP’s claims, labeling them as a desperate bid for recognition. Bala Ibrahim, the National Publicity Director of the APC, highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts, including discounted transport fares enabling Nigerians to travel for Christmas, refuting the notion of a bleak festive season.

The APC’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to Nigeria’s development. He encouraged Nigerians to maintain hope, asserting that the nation’s strength lies in citizens’ optimism and resilience.

Further voices joined the discourse, with Deputy Speaker Philip Agbese urging prayers for President Tinubu and the National Assembly. The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, emphasized the importance of unity and reconciliation, while Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu called for hope amid challenges.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State encouraged Christians to emulate Jesus by displaying love and cooperating with political leadership. In Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum urged citizens to resist religious division, emphasizing the need for harmony in the face of economic recovery.

As the Christmas debates unfolded, the nation witnessed a clash of perspectives, reflecting the broader discourse on Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
