JUST IN: FRSC Clarifies VIOs Authorized To Arrest Traffic Offenders ....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified that Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) possess legal backing to apprehend traffic violators, contingent on the state in which they operate. Deputy Corps Marshal Mr. Bisi Kazeem emphasized in Abuja that the cooperation of the motoring public with VIOs is crucial for enhancing road safety.

This clarification comes after a unit commander in Abuja asserted that VIOs lacked the authority to arrest road traffic offenders, including those driving overloaded vehicles or using phones while driving.

In response, FRSC Corps Marshal Mr. Dauda Biu promptly ordered the withdrawal of the unit commander to the national headquarters for necessary administrative and disciplinary measures. He stressed that the unit commander’s statement did not have the approval of the FRSC Corps Marshal and did not reflect the official position of the FRSC.

Highlighting the collective responsibility for road safety, Kazeem acknowledged the role of VIOs in complementing FRSC’s efforts through the enforcement of traffic laws. He urged the motoring public to adhere to established traffic regulations and collaborate with security agencies deployed to maintain law and order on the highways, regardless of their corporate mandate.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Source: Bushradiogist
