Kano Government Reacts Strongly As Court Removes Sanusi From Emir Position....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a recent development, a Federal High Court in Kano has overturned the reappointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano. Despite this ruling, the Kano State government has swiftly asserted that Sanusi remains the Emir. Additionally, the government has instructed Ado Bayero to vacate the Gidan Nassarawa mini palace, where he had resided following his removal, as the building is set for demolition.

The court action was initiated by Alhaji Aminu Babba-Dan’agundi, known as Sarkin Dawaki Babba, through his legal representative Ibrahim Aliyu-Nasarawa. The motion sought to prevent the implementation of the Kano State Emirate (Repeal) Law 2024, which nullified the 2019 Emirate Council law that had established multiple emirates within the original Kano Emirate.

This legal maneuver comes in the wake of the removal and subsequent reinstatement of Muhammad Sanusi II as Emir, a position from which he was initially removed by the Abdullahi Ganduje administration in March 2020. The reinstatement displaced Aminu Ado Bayero, who had assumed the role in the interim.

Babba-Dan’agundi’s challenge aims to reverse Bayero’s removal, with the respondents in the case including the Kano State Government, Kano State House of Assembly, and various other state and federal authorities.
