Keyamo Breaks Silence On APC’s By-Election Gains, Sends 2027 Warning

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the outcome of the bye-elections conducted across parts of the country on Saturday, describing the All Progressives Congress’ performance as significant ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the Independent National Electoral Commission conducted bye-elections on September 19, 2026, in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano. INEC’s official results platform lists the five constituencies among the elections conducted on the date.

Reacting to the results in a statement shared on his social media account, Keyamo highlighted the APC’s reported victories across Kano, Gombe and Delta, while acknowledging that the party lost one of the contested seats in Bauchi State to the Allied Peoples Movement.

The minister said the outcome was noteworthy because the constituencies were spread across the North-West, North-East and South-South geopolitical zones. He suggested that the results would be relevant to the political calculations surrounding the 2027 presidential election.

Keyamo also drew attention to the constitutional requirement that a presidential candidate must secure at least 25 per cent of the votes cast in two-thirds of Nigeria’s states and the Federal Capital Territory. He described the provision as a reflection of Nigeria’s diverse political landscape.

The minister said he would provide a more detailed interpretation of the significance of the development after the 2027 presidential election. He also referred to President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election and expressed confidence in the president’s prospects.

“Let me keep our gunpowder dry for now,” Keyamo said, while promising a fuller analysis of what he described as a significant factor in presidential elections after the 2027 poll.

He concluded his post with the phrase, “No be cho cho cho,” and urged his followers to bookmark the statement.

INEC’s results portal confirms that results from the September 19 bye-elections were being uploaded, with the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency recording complete uploads while results for the other constituencies were at varying levels of completion at the time of the latest update.
