The timetable, contained in a document dated November 17, 2025, was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which confirmed receipt on November 21, 2025. According to the plan, the party’s activities will culminate in a National Convention set for February 28, 2026.
The LP’s strategy emphasizes a bottom-up approach, beginning with a nationwide mobilization to strengthen membership:
-
Dec 17, 2025 – Jan 10, 2026: Launch and conclusion of “Labour Party Connect 10 Million Nigerians,” a membership revalidation and new registration drive.
-
Jan 13, 2026: Ward Congresses.
-
Jan 17, 2026: Local Government (LGA) Congresses.
-
Jan 24, 2026: State Congresses.
-
Jan 31, 2026: Zonal Congresses.
-
Feb 28, 2026: National Convention.
During the inauguration of the National Steering Committee for membership revalidation in Abuja, Interim National Chairman Senator Usman urged Nigerians to actively participate in the party’s initiatives. She described the registration drive as a vital step in the party’s mission to “rescue Nigeria’s democracy,” inviting citizens to join LP ahead of the 2027 polls.
She stated, “Our party, like many opposition platforms in Nigeria, has faced intense challenges and distractions in recent times. Most of these have been resolved by the courts, and the few pending matters are before the judiciary. We remain confident they will be settled in the interest of justice and democracy.
“As we approach the election season next year, it is essential and strategic for the Labour Party to reposition, reorganize, and strengthen itself to meet the responsibilities and opportunities ahead. Today, we formally launch this membership revalidation and registration exercise.”
Senator Usman noted that expanding and consolidating the party’s membership has been a top priority since her assumption of office. While past challenges delayed the timely start of this exercise, she expressed confidence that the new timetable would enable the party to recover lost ground, emerge stronger, and be well-prepared for the coming elections.
She encouraged current members to revalidate their membership and invited new Nigerians of goodwill to register and formally join the Labour Party. Usman reaffirmed that under her leadership, the party remains committed to being a credible, people-driven political alternative.
