In his address, Onafowote expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s previous support and outlined the need for further assistance in areas such as procurement reforms, system modernization, and the complete implementation of the e-procurement system. He also sought support for capacity building, personnel development, affirmative procurement, SME growth, and facilitating international exchange programs.
Onafowote highlighted that since the initial onboarding of three pilot ministries and agencies in 2019, the e-procurement platform now includes 140 MDAs, with 19 more set to join by the end of the year. Ms. Ali praised the agency’s efforts in digitalizing its operations and encouraged Onafowote to submit a formal proposal for further support. In June, senior officials from Liberia’s Public Procurement and Concessions Commission visited Lagos to learn from the state’s e-procurement system.
