Lagos Police Spokesperson Urges Nigerians To Exercise Caution Around Individuals Carrying Firearms
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has issued a stern caution to Nigerians, particularly those who consider themselves socially aware, against provoking individuals carrying firearms.
In a message posted on his social media account on Monday, May 6, Hundeyin emphasized the risks associated with challenging or confronting armed individuals, warning that such confrontations typically result in tragic outcomes, regardless of the location.
His statement read:
“To all citizens, especially the socially conscious among us, it is imperative for your own safety to refrain from challenging or provoking individuals in possession of firearms. Asking such individuals how many lives they can take or attempting to disarm them is a dangerous gamble with irreversible consequences. Once a shot is fired, there’s no turning back. Once a life is lost, it cannot be restored.
“Remember, in any confrontation, the individual with the firearm holds the upper hand.
“Please take note: This advice pertains not only to encounters with armed police officers but with any individual, whether they are part of security forces or engaged in criminal activities.”
